Piscataquis County leaves for work earlier than most of the rest of the country

There are a lot of early birds in Piscataquis County.

Residents of that county head to work between 5 and 6:59 a.m., on average, according to Census Data mapped by the blog Dadaviz.

Compare that with the average for almost the entire country, which commutes to work between 7 and 8:59 am.

The data comes from a 2013 Census survey of people over the age of 16 who don’t work from home.

As the map shows, nearly everyone drives to work — or walks, or takes public transportation — a little later. A few pockets get up even earlier, from midnight to 4 am. The night shift is apparently the least popular time.
